Teaching Staff
Lita Bledsoe (lbledsoe@arvs.org) became a teacher with the Arkansas Virtual School in December 2002 and has been Lead Teacher since July 2003. She has a bachelor's degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in Elementary Education with emphasis in Early Childhood, and has completed all of the graduate hours for a master's degree in Gifted Education. Lita taught in a private school, and has spent the last ten years homeschooling; working as an educational consultant for homeschool families with students from pre-K through twelfth grade; conducting teacher training in mathematics at public schools around the nation; being a participant, vendor, and speaker at homeschool conventions nationwide; and participating and speaking at the National Association for Gifted Children annual convention.

Carol Hooder (chooder@arvs.org) was hired as a teacher with the Arkansas Virtual School in December 2002. She attended Hendrix College and the University of Central Arkansas and received her B.S. in elementary education from UCA in 1991. From 1991 to 2002, she was employed as a teacher with the Little Rock School District where she served on many committees, including the Parent Involvement Committee, which organized a Parent Resource Center and held monthly parent workshops. Ms. Hooder worked as the Smart Start facilitator for her school, which involved training staff and assessing programs to ensure that all students were performing at grade level by grade four. Ms. Hooder has had ESL training and was the coordinator for the Language Proficiency Assessment Team.

Lesli Lucy (llucy@arvs.org) attended Central Baptist College and the University of Central Arkansas, where she earned a bachelor's degree in early childhood education. While at UCA, Mrs. Lucy participated in the Break the Mold and E-Pals programs in association with Theodore Jones Elementary and Florence Mattison Elementary, both in the Conway school district. She also represented UCA through formal presentations at the Arkansas Reading Association's workshop and the UCA College of Education's Student Conference on Teaching. Mrs. Lucy's teaching career began at Bates Elementary in the Pulaski County Special School District, where she taught second grade. She subsequently taught third grade at East End Elementary in the Sheridan School District. Mrs. Lucy then moved into advertising with Cap Media in Little Rock where she worked in the national accounts department and later in client services. She is in her third year as a teacher with ARVS.

Stephanie Price (sprice@arvs.org) has three years of teaching experience. She earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education with an emphasis in middle school science and social studies from Arkansas State University. Ms. Price also volunteers as an adviser to a sorority on the University of Central Arkansas Campus. This is her second year with the Arkansas Virtual School.

Tracy Ragen (tragen@arvs.org) became a teacher with the Arkansas Virtual School in August 2003. She is a cum laude graduate of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock with a B.S. in elementary education. She was a member of Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society and Kappa Delta Pi, an international honor society in education. Ms. Ragen also holds licensure in the areas of middle school social studies and business technology. Her previous professional work experience includes bank accounting services and maintenance of ATM accounts for Community Bank of Cabot, remote encoding services for the United States Postal Service, help desk technical support for Dillard's Inc., and most recently, eight years of service with the international accounting firm of Deloitte and Touche, LLP. Ms. Ragen also has served as a volunteer tutor for the Open Arms Shelter in Lonoke County, which serves a temporary home for displaced youth.

Ginger Weaver (gweaver@arvs.org) graduated from Auburn University with a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education. This is her first year working for the Arkansas Virtual School. She has five years of teaching experience. In addition to teaching kindergarten, first, third, and fourth grades, Ginger has had several jobs using her education background. She has tutored at the Columbus Reading Institute; worked for UAMS in the Starting Early Starting Smart program collecting data; run a Parent/Teacher Center and after school tutoring program in Mena, Arkansas; taught ACT prep for The Princeton Review as a part of the Clinton Foundation; and, most recently, coordinated the SES program for K12 in the Little Rock School District.

Kelley Williams (kwilliams@arvs.org) is starting her second year as a teacher for the Arkansas Virtual School. She holds a degree in early childhood education from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where she is currently a graduate student.

Lisa Williams (lwilliams@arvs.org) received a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Education degree with an emphasis in reading from Harding University. She has taught third and sixth grade, as well as math for fifth and sixth grades. During this time, she served as computer lab manager for IMPAC. Ms. Williams has received extensive training for teaching mathematics with a "hands-on approach" from the Wilbur D. Mills Cooperative, for which she received a grant from the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation. For the past eight years, she has supervised student teachers for Harding University while also teaching Fun Unlimited, an academic enrichment program for children. She is a member of the President's Council of Harding University, a national advisory board to the university. Ms. Williams serves on the Arkansas Board of Examiners of Speech Pathology and Audiology.
