Teaching Methods
Parents (or other responsible adults) guide students through the lessons and ensure that children are learning. Teachers provide support when students are experiencing academic problems, help students manage their time and set goals, monitor student work, provide academic workshops, create events, and monitor daily attendance logs. Lessons and assessments occur both online and away from the computer.

To accommodate the diverse learning styles of children, we employ a variety of teaching strategies in our program, including direct instruction, hands-on exploration, use of manipulatives and games, practice exercises, regular reviews of previous work, and frequent assessments. Additional instructional materials include workbooks, textbooks, science lab materials, and more.

Students in ARVS learn at their own pace. Students who are excelling can move quickly ahead to the next lessons and units or explore topics in greater depth. Alternative lessons are provided in math for those students who need extra support.

The Arkansas Virtual School also offers a Special Education Program tailored to each child's unique needs.
